As we prepare for the next financial year, we recognise the importance for practices to gain a detailed analysis of their total billed items, along with key data on private billing amounts and percentages
Use this metric to understand the proportion of the total amount of billings that were not paid by Medicare or DVA. Within this metric, you can also calculate the percentage of your private billings by Practitioner using the private billings calculator.

Key components and filters
Private billing percentage calculator
Calculate the percentage of private billings for the practitioner vs the practice.
Enter your desired percentage into the calculator to adjust the calculated amount of private billings. For example, if practitioners in your practice have service agreements, you can use this tool to determine the distribution of billings between the practitioner and the practice.
If a practitioner's service fee is 70%, you would enter 70% to see the amount of private fees earned by the practitioner from the gross total billings.
Conversely, entering 30% will show the amount of private fees retained by the practice. This calculation can help you index your private fees based on the amount retained by the practice.
Compare this metric with the bulk billing metric to help you gain a full understanding of the proportion that bulk billings make up against overall billings at the practice by service date, including all custom items and not limited to just MBS or DVA items.
